Feeling Alone and Overwhelmed

“5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Joshua 1:5]. 6 So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6Amplified Version

We all go through that time in life when we feel alone, like God has forgotten about us, like we have too much going on to be able to make it any further… we want to give up. When those times come, instead of running away from God because we think He has forgotten about us, we have to run to Him and His word to remind ourselves of His promises.

In Hebrews 13:5, God promises that He will never leave us alone, forget about us, or expect us to handle anything by ourselves. Three times He repeats Himself that HE WILL NOT leave us.

Three times.

I mean coming from God, one time would have been plenty. But the fact that He repeats Himself THREE times, that means something. He doesn’t want us to feel alone, to feel helpless, to feel overwhelmed. Those things are what the devil puts in our minds to try and turn us from God.

God wants us to always feel loved, always know He is with us, always remember that He knows what you are going through and hasn’t forgotten about you.

Life is tough though. Just because we believe in Jesus doesn’t mean we won’t go through those rough times. The Bible actually says in James, Chapter 1 that we will go through trials.

All of us.

Even believers.

Just because we have faith, we aren’t excused from trials in this life. But the beauty of having faith is that we know the ending. We don’t have to question what will happen. We know that the Lord has already defeated the devil, so no matter what he throws at us… in the end we will overcome it.

Because of Jesus. Because HE has defeated the devil for us. Because if God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31).

No matter how tough life gets, we have to remember that God is right there. He hasn’t left us, He hasn’t forgotten about us, He isn’t too busy to know what we are going through. He is just waiting on us to call on Him and depend on Him for help. He wants to help us, but it is up to us to let Him.
