This 4th of July has been my absolute favorites.
I was able to get my nephew and spend the last 3 days with him. 3 days. He’s never been away from home for more than 1 night, and that was only once.
It was a miracle that he said yes to come stay with us, it was a miracle his parents said yes, and it was a miracle he didn’t get homesick. The amount of love I have for that kid is insane.
Between staying at home with him, then our Sea World trip, and our trips to and from his house… it was an incredible weekend.
As for Sea World, the day was amazing!
For beginners, we got free tickets. My mom’s boyfriend was able to get us all tickets, that’s a huge deal. His son got us free ones with his military perks, and he took care of the rest. We haven’t taken a trip like that since before my parents were divorced… over 10 years ago.
Then, we get to Sea World and there are a TON of people. Like thousands. We stop to eat lunch and I left my phone in the bathroom… something I’m notorious for doing. I didn’t even realize I had left it. I just couldn’t find it. So I called it and a random person that works at one of the booths answers. Someone had turned in my phone. They could have done anything with my phone, I never would have known who it was. But instead, they decided to turn it in. Praise Jesus!
To that stranger – thank you for turning in my phone and not just taking it. The good Lord knows I cannot afford another phone right now… and you are an angel.
Then, I take my nephew to the arcade area while everyone is riding rides he can’t ride, and we have a blast. So we take our tickets to the ticket counter and a girl decides she wants to give my nephew her last 30 tickets. Out of the thousands of people, she chose him. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but to me it meant the world.
So we get all of his little prizes and go outside the arcade to wait on everyone. While we are waiting, a lady walks up to my nephew and asks him if he wants a prize because she has so many of them. Again… thousands of people and he is the one that she asked. What are the odds?!
And… we were able to hit up a ride that had a 2 hour wait all day before we left. With only 6 minutes left before they closed the ride, we got to go on. My nephew had soooo much fun on it, minus a slight scare when he thought we were stuck. Lol
Oh, and did I mention we got a free hotel room from my mom’s boyfriend also? Yeah, he’s the most thoughtful and selfless guy I’ve ever met. On top of that, my sister’s friends dog sat for us.. Which is a HUGE deal because I haaaate leaving my dogs. They are my world and for me to be able to count on someone to take care of them while I’m gone, words can’t express how grateful I am.
People are amazing.
Nothing that happened was coincidence. It was all an incredibly amazing plan God had for us before we even thought about it. It’s funny how God works. How there have been decisions in our past that have led us to this weekend. How God worked everything out for us to make it so much fun. How everyone was able to go and spend the weekend together. Most importantly, how everyone came over this weekend to see my nephew and show him how much he was loved. We don’t get to see him as much as we’d like, so we cherish these moments. You could tell he felt the love, and that is the best feeling in the world.
This is a 4th of July I will never forget… it will forever be one of my favorite memories. So thank you to everyone who made this weekend happen. There were so many people who came together to make great memories, and I will forever be grateful.
